JOB PURPOSE:
Alphia, one of the nation’s leading custom pet food manufacturing companies, is looking for a Vice President, Supply Chain. This position is responsible for the supply chain planning process from network capacity and lowest landed cost optimization to demand planning to production planning, including overall ownership and facilitation of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. This position may also be remote.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develop and implement financial planning models to optimize production and distribution for lowest total landed cost through optimization / linear programming applications that analyzes raw material, plant conversion and transportation input costs with capacity for lowest optimized network cost.
- Utilize the above optimization modeling process on quarterly basis to plan the near term and longer-term manufacturing network for optimal production plans that balances cost, plant capacity and run size. Utilize information to feed production planning group for execution and for financial forecasting for P&L management.
- Manage and lead the longer term 5-year business planning process to identify future network demand requirements balanced with production and distribution footprints to ensure network growth will support company demand growth at the optimal cost.
- Manage and lead the Alphia demand planning process synthesizing all inputs from sales, marketing, finance and supply chain function.
- Develop plan that incorporates an item, customer and ship-from level bottoms up forecast.
- Develop the Company’s “bottoms up” sales forecast for inclusion in the Company’s overall financial plan.
- Develop 5-year plan based with annual updates.
- Support the Financial Operating Planning Process.
- Incorporate and coordinate the integration of trade spend planning and sales promotional activity into demand planning process through process and tools that support information hand off, and that translate promotion consumption expectations into customer shipment forecast for demand/production execution.
- Lead role to connect and build customer relationships and demand planning processes with customer specific personalized programs to facilitate customer promotional activity and typical ordering patterns into consumption and shipment models for the Alphia demand plan.
- Manage the entire Alphia Production Planning process to translate demand plan with lowest landed cost optimization plan to create 52-week capacity constrained production plans to drive supply chain execution.
- Develop and maintain models for capacity constrained planning.
- Manage purchased raw ingredients to optimize service & inventory objectives.
- Integrate and push production plan information through cross functional supply chain groups.
- Integrate planning philosophy through all functional groups to move to “one number” supply chain execution.
- Deliver demand and production forecast accuracy that supports balanced working capital inventory levels with service levels that meet or exceed customer requirements.
- Integrate and take ownership of the Sales and Operations Planning Process (S&OP) that integrates the lowest landed cost optimization process, trade spend integration, demand and production planning process into a consensus forecasting number to push the “one number” planning concept through the supply chain.
- Create tools and process for forecast accuracy that provide information and format to minimize marketing time constraints.
- Integrate S&OP “one number” process with commercial and supply chain consensus.
- Coordinate and execute meetings that provide the highest informational and alignment benefit with the lowest cross functional resource commitments.
- Utilize the S&OP process to help deliver lowest cost and least disruptive production to optimize company P&L impact.
- Implement S&OP process into yearly quarterly and monthly budgeting process.
- Lead role with plant and distribution center groups to continuously identify capacity bottlenecks to be utilized for production planning tools and for continuous improvement projects at plant level for capacity growth to support future demand at the lowest cost per ton conversion.
- Lead the Planning & Purchasing Team to achieve established goals
- Ensure adequate human resources to meet Planning needs of the company.
- Establish and communicate individual team member performance expectations. Provide feedback on a regular basis including appropriate rewards and recognition.
- Manage the total compensation package for each team member, including annual reviews and establishment of MBO’s.
- Establish individual improvement plans to develop team members for today and tomorrow.
- Create an atmosphere of personal development and continuous learning for the supply chain planning groups using internal and external resources, bench marking best practices and pushing key employees for on-going personal growth and succession planning.

Key Skills:

The Material & Procurement Specialist is responsible for supply chain management, evaluating suppliers, purchase orders, purchasing goods or services and contract negotiation.
