CapEX Commodity Manager
Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of CapEx Commodity Manager. This position is in Corporate Supply Chain and works closely with suppliers, and the business operations, finance, legal and technical organizations to identify and implement cost savings opportunities.
The Johns Manville Technical Center (JMTC) is a 325,000 square-foot facility located on 81 acres in the Rocky Mountain foothills southwest of Denver. It is the home of corporate R&D and capital project management, and is a customer service center for the Insulation and Roofing business units. The facility, built in 1973, includes accommodations for laboratory, pilot production, and office space. The JMTC laboratories feature state-of-the-art capabilities in the areas of product and process development, characterization, and testing.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate Supply Agreements, construction project, equipment and professional services
- Executing purchasing documents
- Work closely with project engineers, division engineering managers, VP of capital engineering, operations and plant engineers for any capital project
- Identifying and qualifying vendors to meet current and future vendors
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or other related field with a minimum of 4 years of work experience in sourcing.
- Strong contract negotiation skills
- Working knowledge of contract development and contract law
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Effectively manage multiple priorities
- Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP
Additional consideration given for:
- Capital equipment and construction
- CPSM certification desirable
- Exposure to industrial or manufacturing processes

Sourcing Category Manager/MRO-Johns Manville
The Sourcing/Category Manager- MRO is responsible for sourcing and managing MRO materials used in manufacturing finished products, indirect products and services, and trading goods for resale. The manager develops supply agreements and manages supplier relationships to ensure JM maintains a competitive manufacturing cost position.
This position is located at our facility in Littleton, Colorado and reports directly to a Sr. Sourcing Manager.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies within 15 key MRO product and service subcategories with annual spend of $65-125M that may include: Building and Industrial Supplies, Chemicals and Lubricants, Electrical and Instrumentation, Fasteners and Hardware, Filtration, HVAC, Mechanical -- Hydraulics, Mechanical -- Power, Mobile Equipment, MRO Services, OEM Parts and Kits, Pipe Valve and Fitting, Pump and Motor, Safety Supplies, Tooling and Supplies.
- Act as liaison with Supply Chain Sourcing managers and JM business units by executing the following tasks:Conduct supplier workshops to identify annual cost savings opportunities, to achieve established cost reduction goals, manage supplier relationships and to ensure JM maintains a competitive position
- Lead and support projects with multi-functional teams to optimize current supply base and qualify new suppliers
- Identify alternate materials, cost-efficient processes Eliminate obsolete equipment from plant and support initiatives for new product development
- Negotiate Supply Agreements and develop executive summaries for review and approval by executive leadership team members
- Develop and implement cost reduction projects and establish monthly scorecard metrics and updates
- Manage MRO supply contracts and ensure contract compliance
- Ensure uninterrupted and sustainable supply of MRO materials to JM facilities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a sourcing role with a major company
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of commodity management
- Strong contract negotiation skills
- Proven ability managing supplier relationships
- Working knowledge of contract development and contract law

Job Summary
This position will support the forecasting, planning, purchasing, and distribution teams along with distribution of products to the field and will require collaboration with these functions to optimize division goals for inventory management, forecast accuracy, customer service, and standard cost.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with Division planners to insure forecast and planning schedule maximize customer service levels and manufacturing productivity.
- Minimize/reduce inventory ( DOH) to meet budgeted goals.
- Continually improve material flow from supplier, through facility, to end customer for maximum efficiency.
- Work with Sourcing organization to help insure that quality materials are purchased on a timely basis, in appropriate quantities and at fair prices.
- Foster cooperation and effective communications between the supply chain group and the balance of the organization.
- Work closely with distribution partners to insure customer orders are shipped in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Work with materials group employees to insure that intra company material distribution occurs in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Work with all Division planners to help insure all departmental procedures are consistent with G.M.P’s and Corporate Policies.
- Identify and address opportunities to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Prepare and monitor annual budgets for Planning, Purchasing
- Help to identify, evaluate and develop Supply Chain Management staff and establish a Succession Plan for the Division.

- At least three years of managerial experience is also essential.
- CPM, CPIM or CSCP preferred.

A Day in the Life
You will manage supply chain activities from product forecast input through to goods being received in the Distribution Center ensuring optimal net requirements signals are provided and communicated to manufacturing. You will lead projects and initiatives relating to Supply Chain Management with the intention of improving business performance and service interacting will all levels of Corporate and Plant Management, Product Managers, Global Marketing Managers, Corporate and Plant Planners to identify and implement supply chain continuous improvement. You will drive the optimal balance between service (BO and Fill Rate) and inventory, while working to reduce Logistic costs.
You will: · Effectively plan and control the supply chain to meet and exceed KPI’s relating to Customer Service, inventory levels/inventory weeks, and forecast variance. · Partner with the manufacturing plants, developing projections of inventory/ service recovery during periods of supply disruption. · Proactively ensure that both internal and external customer needs are met, and that disruptions are avoided always acting with the customer in mind to ensure excellent Customer Service. · Utilize lean principles and root cause/ corrective action methodology to drive continual improvement in processes leading to step function improvement in performance in Service/Inventory. · support the development and continuous improvement of MITG S&OP process. · Actively plan and support new business opportunities, new product introductions, integrations and transfers. · Actively participate in cost reduction and risk mitigation projects as well as prepare and present project updates. · Work closely with Demand planning/Marketing to understand business shifts and improve forecast accuracy. · Provide ongoing support and maintenance of ERP systems for changes, validation testing and upgrades. · Travel and visit both domestic and international plants up to 20%
