Assistant Purchasing Manager

Our continued growth has created an opportunity for an experienced manufacturing Assistant Purchasing Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists Purchasing & Planning Manager with sourcing, planning and purchasing functions to ensure effective receipt of materials with respect to timeliness, quality, and cost, in accordance with the business plan

• Supports Buyers in the development and maintenance of contracts and/or supply agreements with suppliers of raw materials, services, and maintenance , repair & operating supplies (MRO)

• Supports Buyers in system optimization and MRP data maintenance

• Function as a liaison between the organization and suppliers for all sourcing and procurement related correspondence (e.g. quotations, purchase orders, contracts, evaluations, rejections, corrective actions, discrepancies, etc.)

• Maintains and develops favorable supplier relationships

• Leads the interaction from other company departments to resolve supplier related issues

• Responsible for the monitoring and action to maintain proper inventory levels of assigned purchase categories to optimize working capital investment

• Partners with other departments to identify and implement cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities as they relate to the materials management functions

• Analyzes and produces reports of purchasing activities and performance

• In depth analysis of issues and barriers with overall supply chain management, mainly on material availability, inventory, and cost

• Supports Engineering with sourcing on the development of new products

Education & Experience:

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in global, manufacturing/fabrication and machining facility

• Aluminum extrusion experience

• Previous leadership experience, with at least 5 direct reports

• Contract Negotiations

• Vendor Management

• ERP & MRP working knowledge

Additional Experience, a plus

• Die Castings

• Plastic Injection Moldings

• Stamped Parts

• Springs

• Fabric

• Automotive & Aftermarket

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or other technical discipline

• Able to travel globally

• Stable work history

• APICS CPIM and/or CSCP certification, and/or ISM CPM certification, a plus
