Job Summary

The Buyer Planner is responsible for the supply planning, procurement, and management of orders of medical devices and services from approved suppliers in alignment with forecasted net requirements. This role ensures cost, inventory, delivery, and service targets are met or exceeded through day-to-day supply chain management techniques in conjunction with identified improvement projects. This role interfaces with the Quality, Engineering, Marketing, Finance and potentially International teams to align on and achieve organizational objectives.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute net requirements planning; negotiate price, delivery, and terms with external contract-manufacturing and other supply partners; place and manage purchase orders.
  • Lead regular supplier production reviews to ensure needed capacity and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels to mitigate all stock outs while maintaining cost effective operational expenses.
  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives around optimization of supply base to achieve cost, quality, and delivery improvements
  • Support new supplier qualification activities
  • Qualify suppliers, evaluate bids, and negotiates to obtain the best quality, prices, and terms.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal departments such as Engineering, Quality, and Finance.
  • Visit existing and potential suppliers at their facilities to evaluate their manufacturing processes, capabilities, recent investments, potential for continued growth, trends and required trends, and completes required trip documents.
  • Support the updating of all role-related SOPs.
  • In addition to the above, this role may also:
    • Develop and execute the US and OUS kit build plans for product launches and lead kit strategy discussions with Marketing, International, Supply Chain, Operations and Finance
    • Work closely with the International team to develop OUS supply needs in support of revenue targets while optimizing inventory levels
      • Manage the planning and execution of sterile-packaging processes to support international markets

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

It may reasonably require additional hours during the week and weekend; specific requirements will be determined with Manager. Occasional remote work may be allowed.

Qualifications

  • Four-year Degree (B.S/B.A.) required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in related field such as supply planning, purchasing, or supply chain required, preferably in medical device environment.
  • Strategic Sourcing, opportunity analysis, and strong negotiation skills.
  • High volume purchasing/planning experience required.
  • Highly effective communication skills.
  • APICS CSCP/CPIM certification preferred.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including expert level Excel skills.
  • Experience working with detailed product line forecasts and familiarity with Sales & Operations business management process.
  • Demonstrated successful project management experience.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving skills, and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize appropriately and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with various cross functional teams.
  • SAP ERP experience preferred.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for managing the schedules, availability of manufactured and purchased items, and assemblies related to an assigned project. Creates detailed production schedules and shop orders for assigned projects. Identifies and tracks the resolution of shortages, monitors completeness of assemblies and coordinates their release. Responsible for reviewing and acting on order release, action and exception messages from the ERP/MRP system. Monitors returns to stock, additional unplanned stock issues and project-related documents for accuracy and initiates ECR’s as appropriate. Works with product Expeditor(s) to coordinate delivery of material to jobs.


PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Creates the production schedule for an assigned project with detailed input.
  • Utilizes assembly sequencing and assembly due date requirements to coordinate and schedule work.
  • Creates a project production schedule by project and by assembly, creates shop order and issues order with assembly/production dates as soon as possible after engineering release.
  • Processes any schedule changes and updates shop orders as necessary.
  • Participates in the creation of the Shipping Directory for assigned projects.
  • Works with Expeditor to close out shop orders during assembly and with Accounting on final order close-out.
  • Monitors part availability by assembly in ERP/MRP system, in conjunction with Expeditor.
  • Identifies actual or potential shortages and coordinates required delivery dates with Procurement and/or manufacturing in conjunction with Expeditor.
  • Monitors incoming shortages and advises the Expediter to coordinate their processing through receiving to stock or directly into stock.
  • Identifies assemblies ready to be staged for production in ERP/MRP.
  • Coordinates with Production Management on assembly staging schedule to support the build schedule and production capacity as required.
  • Coordinate with the Expeditor to move assemblies from staging to the production area.
  • In conjunction with an Expeditor, provides shortage reports with expected delivery dates.
  • Responsible for processing all spares orders relating to their assigned product lines and coordination with the assigned Production Supervisor to meet required shipment dates.
  • Reviews all components returned to stock along with causal information provided by the Expediter and initiating any ECR’s that are found to be appropriate.
  • Reviews any additional stock issues to a project and initiates ECR’s when appropriate.
  • Support other planners and team members as back-up.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • 4-year degree or 2 year degree/education with an acceptable amount of additional direct Production Planning experience/training in a manufacturing environment. Significant planning experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, engineering specifications, bills of material and engineering change orders.
  • Must have excellent computer skills including MRP/ERP system and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • IFS ERP system experience a significant plus.
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written.

What You’ll Do

  • Recognized as BATC Contract expert with responsibility for interfacing with customer and industry experts.

Primary Purpose of Position:

The IBP Inventory Manager is responsible for leading all inventory planning efforts in line with IBP requirements (both process and function), while driving insights and providing solutions. The role is responsible for providing assistance in the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process, working with the team to help drive improvements.

Essential Functions:

Lead the development, roll-up and communication of inventory planning activities, including global brokered-inventory being sure to work cross-functionally with internal and external business partners to align on key demand/supply variables.

  • Responsible for assistance in managing all NCA global capacity and demand need activities.
  • Create, manage, and communicate customer-level inventory plans in line with production and demand assumptions to all appropriate stakeholders
  • Identify areas for inventory planning and reporting improvements and liaise with stakeholders to drive optimization
  • Working closely with the supply and demand planning teams, and the customer fulfilment teams centrally and regionally to execute the process. This includes managing ad hoc projects and working with external business partners
  • Manage process to ensure that all inventory plans are socialized downstream to appropriate stakeholders (i.e. sourcing, logistics)
  • Lead efforts on regular review of Days of Inventory targets by size/plant to ensure inventory efficiency goals are being met while still meeting service levels required.
  • Work with each process step (NPI/Demand/Supply/Reconciliation/MBR) lead identifying areas for improvement and providing inventory support:
  • Seek, provide and present relevant data in an impactful way to support key decisions
  • Managing ad hoc projects and working with external business partners
  • Monitoring, reporting and orchestrating actions to address critical IBP Inventory KPIs – including Slow Non-Moving Inventory
  • Build and develop strong relationships and interactions with all internal business partners and external customers

Position Requirements:

Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college or graduate degree level education or work-related experience

Commodity Specialist III – Cable Assembly

Our dynamic Supply Chain Management organization is seeking a highly organized, hardworking and self-motivated Commodity Specialist III to support a thriving and growing procurement organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive procurement experience in the Aerospace & Defense (A&D) industry in a manufacturing or Research & Development (R&D) environment. The candidate will have extensive working knowledge of supplier management, FAR / DFAR or NASA procurement regulations, price analysis and target pricing techniques as well as prior experience procuring Custom Fab-to-Print Cable Assemblies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage all activities of supply chain including procurement of moderate to highly complex material orders to support the company plan at optimum cost, quality and delivery.
  • Issue POs to suppliers for commodities with and without contract pricing.
  • May be required to support PCARD procurements.
  • Examine purchase requirements and shortages, obtain quotations, examine bids to negotiate best prices.
  • Responsible for multi-sourcing to reduce cost and supply risk for critical commodities with a single source.
  • Provide purchasing and expediting support to the company for critical material shortages.
  • Manage expedites across commodities and suppliers.
