TECHNICAL BUYER

PURPOSE:
- Support goal to meet and exceed Corporate metrics related to savings and procure-to-pay metrics.
- Administers purchasing activities in Newmont’s Technical Facility in support of Metallurgy and Development in need of outside services and goods.
- Facilitate sourcing strategy and activities in Newmont’s Technical Facility in support of Metallurgy and Development in need of outside services and goods (ex. Office Services, Lab Supplies/Equipment) in order to maximize the value derived from indirect spend and meet user’s needs. Sourcing for lower dollar/risk spend categories or suppliers.
- Conducts contracts administration activities in support of Metallurgy and Development by preparing and administrating contracts on their behalf
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Timely procurement of goods and services utilizing standardized procurement processes and policies.
- Utilize SAP (ERP) application to facilitate streamlined procurement of goods and services.
- Utilize catalog system or facilitate non-catalog procurement of lab supplies, equipment, services.
- Collaborate with suppliers, end users and AP to perform support on invoice mismatch resolution
- Inventory management to ensure compliance to governmental regulations (including hazardous material).
- Working with Contracts Administrators, facilitate sourcing process for the Corporate office in alignment with global Supply Chain goals and metrics, including savings, cash management, procure-to-pay metrics, and sourcing cycle time.
- Reviewing Corporate spend portfolio for sourcing opportunities / upcoming sourcing events. Liaise with internal stakeholders to train and define requirements in order to meet the needs of the company in terms of total cost, quality, service and delivery. Assist users in procurement planning and strategy development for upcoming purchases.
- Conduct market analysis to develop supplier database and sourcing strategy for the bidding process.
- Facilitate RFP process to ensure user is getting the best value based on business needs.
- Ensures governance and standardization of procurement with preferred suppliers.
- Complies and communicates the Company’s Procurement Standard.
- Ensure contracts comply with domestic and foreign tax language, legal, and insurance requirements and coordinate changes with representatives of these departments.
- Works directly with Newmont Legal in terms of contracts terms and use of the appropriate Newmont (contracting) legal entity. Ensure practices are compliant with Internal Audit control requirements.
- Conducts post award contract administration in terms of preparing and executing change orders, work orders, amendments, correspondence/communications, contractor compliance, claims management, supplier onboarding/ training, and contract close out.
- Manage chemical spills in shipments (in conjunction with safety officer)/First responder to shipping chemical spill with knowledge of what was purchased and knowledge of hazards of material.
- Document, communicate and promote use of processes and tools; continually refine processes and tools and encourage adoption of best practices.
- Support and proactively drive the company’s safety culture by ensuring all suppliers at least comply to the appropriate standards and regulations.
- Strong adherence to safety practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS/REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
- The position is located in the Malozemoff Tech Facility (I-25 and Dry Creek); no travel required. REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- SAP procurement experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Management is preferred but not required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Buyer role, sourcing and contracts administration.
- Scientific background is desired.
- Knowledge of Chemical hazards/grades/packaging/safe handling.
- Understanding of regulations governing shipping/ordering of hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of lab operations/instrumentation/processes is desired.
- Experience with sourcing professional services and IT software/hardware.
- Extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing, negotiations.
- Experience with contracts administration for services and goods.
- Strong analytical (including financial) abilities.
- Experience in mining or other relevant industries desired.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to influence others.
