Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
  • Supports development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
  • Serves as front line liaison between plant operations and customer operations regarding daily, weekly, and monthly requirements and associated issues. These issues include, but are not limited to, customer requirements, notices of complaint, and changes in customer demand.
  • Generates accurate and timely on-line forecasts in conjunction with the various sales regions. These forecasts are the basis for the entire planning and control cycle.
  • Accountable for maintaining proper levels and turnover of inventory for individual area of responsibility.
  • Creates daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet forecasted demand.
  • Creates and administers necessary documents required for the on-line handling of customer requirements.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely input of all inventory related transactions.
  • Responsible for plant associated bill of material accuracy.
  • Accountable for the identification, disposition, and necessary follow-up of slow moving, aged, and/or surplus inventories.
  • Plays a key role in the achievement of plant and corporate production planning and control goals.
  • Serves as backup on all duties of production control management in the event of absence.
  • May provide training to others on an as needed basis.
  • While the regular working cycle of this position is usually 5 days on (Monday-Friday), this job may include working weekends (Saturday and Sunday), working hours may vary as specified by management. Incumbent must be able to work overtime on a regular basis and/or be on call as directed by management.

Requirements:

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through high school education or equivalent.
  • Job related experience for 2 years minimum.
  • Working knowledge of the following areas: company manufacturing products, practices, nomenclature, procedures, and policies; customer needs and requirements, production control principles and practices.
  • Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard production planning techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Must follow company policies, procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball
  • Corporation manuals.
  • Ability to negotiate with customers to promote or sell ideas or concepts.
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors.

 

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
