PTA Corporation, a plastic injection molder and tool builder, is an “entrepreneurial” manufacturer whose customers are leaders in the medical device, defense, homeland security and technology industries including Fortune 500 OEMs. Business has started to grow dramatically. And we are currently looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join our team.

Position Overview:

The Supply Chain Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing our supply chain operations. Responsible for managing the entire supply chain process, from sourcing raw materials to delivering finished products to our customers while providing strategic insights and operational expertise to drive efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and continuous improvement throughout our supply chain network.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Hires and trains departmental team 
    • Oversees the daily workflow and schedules of the department
    • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive 
    • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy 

2. Strategic Planning and Management:

    • Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with business goals and objectives
    • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain and identify supply chain risks and opportunities
    • Develops appropriate supply chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost

3. Supplier Relationship Management:

    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate contracts and terms
    • Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular evaluations to ensure quality and reliability
    • Identify alternative suppliers and sourcing strategies to mitigate risks and improve flexibility
    • Establishes performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain

4. Inventory Control and Management:

    • Develop inventory control policies and procedures to optimize inventory levels and minimize carrying costs
    • Implement inventory forecasting techniques to ensure adequate stock levels while avoiding overstock situations
    • Coordinate with production and sales teams to forecast demand and manage inventory accordingly
    • Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company

5. Logistics and Distribution:

    • Oversee transportation and logistics operations, including shipping, receiving, and warehousing
    • Optimize transportation routes and modes to reduce costs and improve delivery times
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for transportation and logistics

6. Financial Management:

    • Manage supply chain budgets and expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness and budget compliance
    • Analyze financial data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements
    • Negotiates pricing and contracts for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and shipping companies to optimize inventory turns and reduce cost

7. Process Improvement and Optimization:

    • Continuously review and improve supply chain processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
    • Implement Lean and Six Sigma principles to streamline operations and improve productivity
    • Lead cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and drive operational excellence
    • Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials
  • Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes and new product launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions
  • Monitors the performance of suppliers, assessing their financial stability and ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments
  • Travels to our production facilities and supplier locations based on business needs
  • Performs other related duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus
  • Proven experience as a Supply Chain Manager or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding leadership and communication abilities
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and ERP systems

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CSCP) is strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel
  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including noise, heat, cold, and exposure to chemicals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection when on the manufacturing floor.
  • Ability to work in temperature-controlled environments and withstand exposure to noise levels associated with manufacturing machinery.
  • Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize required training from OSHA and Company including but not limited to the following: Hazard Communication, Lock Out/Tag Out, First Aid and CPR (optional)
