 JM is currently looking for a Senior Commodity Manger to support our corporate Supply Chain group.  This person would be responsible for leadership of strategy development and implementation for a portfolio of direct raw materials used in manufacturing finished products as well as contract manufacturing to add value to intermediate goods for future resale.  This includes managing supplier relationships and developing Supply Agreements to ensure JM maintains a competitive manufacturing cost position.   

 Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure uninterrupted and sustainable supply of raw materials and Value-Added Contract Manufacturing Services to JM facilities and Customers; conduct supplier evaluations and develop and implement sourcing strategy options for raw materials, contract manufacturing and services, and trading goods for resale; work cross functionally to establish supplier qualification strategy. 
  • Conducts supplier workshops to identify annual cost savings opportunities and manages the activities to achieve the established cost reduction goal to ensure JM maintains a competitive position; develop and implement cost reduction projects, establishes and maintains monthly scorecard metrics and updates that are then presented to JM senior leadership. 
  • This position will be a liaison with the Supply Chain Sourcing Leaders and JM business units.
  • Develop and solicit Requests for Quotes, analyze submissions, and form recommendation; negotiate required Supply Agreements and develop Executive Summaries for review with the appropriate executive leadership team members for approval; manage Supply Agreements for compliance and risk mitigation
  • Work with Directors of Operations from JM businesses to maximize value from raw material sourcing; provides input for Strategic influence and management of spend while directly supporting and building relationships with JM Functional Groups, Operations, Suppliers, and the Functional Group Leaders.   • Using various data sources, understand, track and report on market dynamics for all key materials under their responsibility; apply statistical-based methodologies (including 6 sigma tools)
  • Decisions and actions have a significant impact on the short-term results and/or a moderate impact on long-term results affecting profitability, cost, service and/or operations. The impact of actions is significant to multiple departments or a plant
  • Accountable for own actions under limited supervision; may be responsible for conducting special projects with an important potential impact on a business segment or plant.
  • Some independence to operate within established practices, procedures and/or schedules.

 

Requirements:

  • 4 year degree – Business Admin / Supply Chain / Chemical Engineering or related field minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience in product management, sourcing / commodity management with a major company
