Commodity Manager

Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Commodity Manager- Packaging.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage up to $55M in annual packaging spend.
- Support three JM business units, to include reporting out monthly to key stakeholders of each business.
- Develop, engineer, test packaging components and modify as necessary to meet: functional requirements, packaging machine parameters, cost targets, and shipping requirements.
- Create trial and test reports.
- Identify and initiate cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical and cost reduction input to cross functional teams, while satisfying design requirements for manufacturing and marketing acceptance.
- Demonstrate strategic and tactical decision-making ability using sound scientific principles and data.
- Work effectively with plants, suppliers, and business stakeholders to strategically source packaging materials and manage the supplier qualification process.
- Initiate, develop and maintain supplier relationships.
- Develop project timelines, scorecards and metrics to support meeting Supply Chain goals.
- Lead contract negotiations and manage contract development.
- Develop specifications.
Qualifications:
- BS in Packaging or Materials Science, supply chain knowledge and experience a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Packaging related field, experience with industrial packaging specifically polyethylene films and corrugated are preferred.
- Outstanding technical competence in package design, material properties, and package testing
- Negotiation skills and ability to manage supply base.
- Excellent communication skills – oral, written and presentation.
- Self-motivated and highly team oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently in a fast paced environment.
- Travel to JM manufacturing sites and supplier locations
- Excellent Microsoft Office suite computer skills, SAP knowledge a plus.
- Willing to relocate to Denver, Colorado Area
