What does this role look like?
Supply Chain’s vision is to enable customer and mission success through supply chain strategies and execution that deliver superior operational program performance and create competitive advantage through continuous improvement. It is our mission to deliver affordable supply chain solutions that meet all program requirements and manage supply chain risks to ensure positive supplier performance through all phases of the program life-cycle from capture to sustainment.
This role will offer you the following daily challenges:
The Category Manager Staff will be supporting the Propulsion Common Products team for LM Space Global Supply Chain Enterprise Sourcing and Strategy.
- Develops a global sourcing strategy for commodities (categories.)
- Defines project scope and facilitates execution, identifying savings opportunities in order to provide differentiating value for Lockheed Martin.
- Works with Business Area, Business Unit or Enterprise-wide, cross-functional teams of supply chain, component engineering, quality, finance and business operations professionals to analyze supply base risks & opportunities, support program needs, identify new sources of supply and maximize the horizontal strength for the specific category.
- Negotiates and manages contracts and relationships with suppliers.
- Implements policies and metrics to ensure that savings goals are realized and performance requirements are achieved.
- Possesses an in-depth understanding of category market space and supplier base in order to establish effective supplier relationships to drive innovative strategies that enhance performance.
- Acts as the main focal point for all matters pertaining to the given category.
This position is in one of the Coolest places to work: Denver, Colorado.
Basic Qualifications:
To be successful, you will need to possess these basic qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 10 years or more of professional experience; or 8 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.
- Experience managing both development and production hardware/programs.
- Demonstrated ability to manage risk mitigation plans, resolve cost and schedule issues to meet program needs, conflict management as necessary, and manage an Integrated Product Team.
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to bring matters/issues to successful closure.
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation, to effectively communicate business cases to all levels of peers, suppliers, as well as program and executive management.
- You will need to be a US Citizen, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Desired Skills:
To be successful, ideally, you should also have:
- Propulsion and/or Mechanical technical or supply chain experience.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and regulations under DoD.
