General Description:

This position reports to the Director of Supply Chain / Materials Management. The role is responsible for leading the sourcing of materials and suppliers, selection of vendors, purchasing and inventory of raw materials and supplies.

Essential Functions:

• Implement best practices in procurement and strategic sourcing.
• Identify and qualify suppliers of materials, equipment, and/or supplies.
• Lead material cost reduction efforts, pricing negotiations, delivery, and other issues with suppliers.
• Ensures locations have the components and supplies needed to meet production goals and manage those in a controlled environment.
• Develop and manage supplier relationship management program.
• Manage purchasing contracts for assigned suppliers.
• Evaluates and analyzes purchasing trends and price to identify cost efficiences.
• Collaborate to maintain current list of strategic and bottle-neck suppliers
• Mentor and coach junior members of the supply chain staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides day-to-day support, guidance and supervision of the purchasing staff.

EXPERIENCE AND NECESSARY SKILLS:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Pharmaceutical background preferred
• Manufacturing experience a plus
• Proven negotiation skills
• Regulated industry background
• 5 years of related management experience is required
• APICS or other purchasing certification strongly desired
• Working knowledge of cGMP guidelines / standards
• Proficient ERP software skills preferred
• High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
• Strong team player
