Manufacturing Planning Associate Manager

In this role, you will perform as the leader of the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) group for the Production Planning & Control team within the Denver Mechanical Manufacturing Center (MMC). You will lead a team of material requirements/production planners collaborating with manufacturing, test, engineering, procurement, and shop leadership to ensure a steady flow of hardware through the metallic, composites, and additive manufacturing processes. You will also participate in strategic initiatives that will impact all manufacturing and planning organizations.
To be successful, you should have familiarity with material requirements planning (MRP). Additionally, strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills will be advantageous. You will also need to be experienced with MS Office software, have excellent communication skills, and be a self-starter.
Summary of Key Duties for this position:
- Manage a team of around 10 Manufacturing Support Team members in their roles as Material Planners for the Mechanical Manufacturing Center (MMC) and be responsible for all management responsibilities for this team including performance management, talent development, and task direction
- Provide leadership, direction, guidance and assistance to ensure communication and coordination to a multi-disciplined team responsible for various elements of the supply chain and manufacturing process
- Manage the coordination of subordinate employee recruitment and training, performance assessments, work assignments, salary, recognition/disciplinary actions, and counsel and mentor assigned employees.
- Oversee all work performed by your team to meet operational commitments
- Engage with Operations Planning leadership to ensure strategic goals and initiatives are progressing to plan
- Perform look ahead analysis to proactively manage potential upcoming conflicts and obstacles in order to minimize any impact to hardware delivery
- Maintain a close partnership with the MMC scheduling team and leadership
- Coordinate the PP&C interfaces with other stakeholders including the Manufacturing Centers, Inventory Operations, Program Master Scheduling, Quality Assurance, Transportation, and Procurement
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of work in process and be able to clearly and effectively communicate status, issues and path forward plans to multiple levels of the organization (MMC Leadership, MMC Directors, MFG VP), as well as communicate schedule and cost performance data to program stakeholders
- Identify process improvements that will prove to reduce production cost and improve schedule performance
- As a working manager, you will be responsible for performing day to day MRP functions in support of MMC Operations, delegating the MRP work across the team to ensure a balanced workload, and reassigning work for vacation/attrition coverage

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
- Experience in one of the following areas: Production Planning & Control, Inventory Management, Manufacturing/Production Operations, Procurement, Logistics, or General Management
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) theory and practices
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Desired Skills:
- Experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as SAP and/or experience working with Microsoft Project software
- Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Ability to work and lead your team independent of direct supervision
- Demonstrated formal or informal leadership experience
- Proven ability to proactively identify and drive change
- Demonstrated experience communicating/briefing executives, leaders, and customers
