DIRECTOR-BASE LOGISTICS

Job Summary
Responsible to plan, direct and manage the efficient operations of new, closing or converting bases. Will collaborate with multiple related departments and functions to ensure successful, on-time delivery and execution of projects. Independent direction and decisions will have a significant impact on the overall initial and on-going base/project success.

- Develops and translates base operations strategy into actionable plan
- Leads planning, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of related processes
- Plans, coordinates and evaluates complex departmental and intradepartmental projects or programs for implementation across large department or function
- Recommends actionable policies appropriate for the function, interprets and recommends modification to AMS Customer Experience policies and practices
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following.
- Plans and oversees the management of all required activities and related logistics to complete base openings, closures, conversions and moves on-time and within budget.
- In collaboration with all responsible business functions and customers, manages the process ensuring all related functional activities throughout the project lifecycle are executed to plan
- Partners with Real Estate and Regional teams to identify base locations, contracts and lease terms. Works in conjunction with Operations to understand all potential aspects of future base operations cost.
- In collaboration with business functions, recommends and supports implementation of continuous process improvement
- Provides business recommendations and documentation on project cost and timing to ledership and/or customers including capital expenditures
- Develops and updates regular progress reporting status to leadership including overall project planning, execution and budget.
- Identifies and leads any required third-party resources for construction or other base related services
- Other duties as assigned.

- Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling: 75%

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in Base Operations. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems. For Exempt Managers: Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.
Qualifications

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and ten or more years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience in medical transportation services or logistics preferred
- Project management experience at the tactical and semi-strategical level
- 7-10 years of project management / logistics experience preferred
